Though it is situated in middle of hardcore Metro city like Mumbai, it has a huge forest area and most of the population of it is scattered in remote forest localities. Unit 22 is one of the localities among it. Though there is an existence of native population, the locality is composed of population having with various religions, castes, communities and regional representation of Indian states.

The cluster women from Unit 22 are belongs to various communities. The majority of women of first batch of Warli painting belong to Schedule Caste (SC) following Buddhism and staying around „Nagsen Budhha Vihar‟. The major language of communication is Marathi. Whereas, women from second batch resides near Church. Most of them are from Christian community. These women are mostly from South Indian states. Majority of them speak south Indian languages and few of them speaks English and understands Hindi, Marathi as well. Few women are from North Indian communities. The common language of communication is Hindi amongst all beneficiary women.

The literacy level of women is moderate and majority of them have completed middle to senior secondary school education. Few women are engaged in small jobs and also engaged in teaching, workers, stitching etc. Most of the household heads are engaged in doing jobs in nearby areas of Mumbai. The annual income level of all of them is below 1 lakh rupees and almost all of them have Saffron Colour Ration Cards (provided by Government to the Households that are having income level between 15000 to 1 lakh)

In Shahpur, Male literacy is around 77.87 % while female literacy rate is 62.19 %.
